BODEGA RUN IPA

BROOKLYN BREWERY | PACKAGING DESIGN

With a design that was on the 2022 Dieline Awards Shortlist in the In-House Design category, a winner of the 2022 American Graphic Design Awards, AND a 2023 Gold Crushie Award winner, Brooklyn Bodega Run IPA has been one of the most rewarding projects I’ve worked on at the Brooklyn Brewery.

With iconic NYC bodega imagery re-imagined in a bold, graphic style (including my personal favorite - the cats!) Bodega Run IPA was received with a lot of love. What was supposed to be a single spring of 2022 seasonal run returned for the spring of 2023 with a slightly refreshed look to comply with our total brand refresh (besides our 12 pack - you’ll see it looks a little different!).

My roles in this project were design conception, full execution across all formats, vendor communications and vendor approvals.

PACKAGING LINEUP

Due to printing restrictions, we have a limited number of colors we can use per format. Cans are limited to 6 colors, so we work on all other formats based off the can. The case carton (24 pack bottle) is limited to 4 colors max, and has additional requirements to stroke weight due to the substrate the artwork is printed on. We had to come up with a simplified version of the case carton while still making sure it was recognizable as part of the Bodega Run IPA family.
